Donald E. Kinser, PE, MBA, CPHIMS
Don founded EDI, Ltd. in 1986 and led EDI’s transformation from a mechanical/electrical engineering firm into a recognized leader in data center, security, audio-visual, and technology consulting and engineering. Don earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1983 and an MBA from Georgia State University in 1993. He is a registered Professional Engineer and CPHIMS certified.
Don’s passion is Healthcare IT and the realization of better medical outcomes and improved healthcare delivery through IT adoption. Don works with healthcare clients to help them articulate and realize their technology vision and strategy.
Don is an avid outdoorsman, whitewater canoeist and kayaker, and mountaineer. He is an active volunteer for American Whitewater and the Boy Scouts of America. He has served on American Whitewater’s Board of Directors since 2003. Don is married to Nanci, and they have three adult children and just welcomed their first grandchild.
Mark McComb, EIT, CTS
Mark joined EDI in 2012 and serves as the Managing Principal for the Eastern and Western Regional offices of EDI. He has over 25 years of experience in telecommunications, audio-visual, security, and broadband systems design and installation.
Prior to joining EDI, Mark spent 10 years as an engineer and then division manager working for a large low voltage contractor on the west coast, and 10 years as a Principal for a technology consulting firm in the San Francisco Bay Area.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from California State Polytechnic University with a concentration in telecommunications and fiber optic technology with additional studies in Computer Science. He is a registered Engineer-in-Training and an InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist (CTS). Mark also has a minor in Music with a concentration in Electronic Music and plays the Piano.
Mark has spent much of his personal time volunteering at his church and CYT-Denver, the largest children’s youth theater organization in the nation, where he was the regional Props Master for four years and enjoyed creating crazy props for the kids to use during their performances. He and his wife were also the adult sponsors for the CYT High School mentoring program and have two daughters.
Jim P. Harrison, RCDD
Executive Vice President
Jim joined EDI in 1991 and serves as a Managing Principal for the Northeast Region office of EDI. His 30 years of experience include successful delivery of over 1,000 information technology system and data center design and construction projects.
Jim is a BICSI certified Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD.) Jim helps clients understand their options and works with them to develop effective information technology and communication systems. His extensive knowledge of technologies processes and procedures, combined with his knowledge of construction methods, means new systems and projects are put in place and brought on-line trouble free and on time.
Outside of the office, Jim enjoys hiking, camping, and enjoying the great outdoors with his family and friends. He and his wife, Pam, have four adult children.
Cynthia L. Cates, CPA, CGMA
Chief Financial Officer
Cindy joined EDI in 2008 and serves as the Chief Financial Officer, as well as Corporate Secretary & Treasurer. Cindy, a licensed CPA and member of the Georgia Society of CPAs, graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta with a BBA in Accounting and is working on an MBA and Certified Management Accountant (CMA) accreditation
During her career, Cindy has directed or performed all aspects of finance and accounting and has been instrumental in performing compliance, operational, and internal financial audits, writing and revising audit programs, and conducting internal fraud investigations. At EDI, she also oversees human resources and IT.
Cindy spearheaded the conversion of all EDI accounting, project management, and marketing/sales information into Deltek Vision, a fully integrated project based enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. A daunting and ongoing effort on Cindy’s part, Vision now allows EDI to facilitate better decision-making by delivering mission critical information at the click of a mouse. She recently negotiated a multi-million dollar lease and tenant allowance contract and managed the complete renovation of the Atlanta office space. EDI is committed to Atlanta as its headquarters and this deal solidifies that commitment for the next decade.
In her free time, Cindy enjoys all things science fiction and fantasy, adventure movies, music, and a good glass of wine. She also visits her three young nephews in Denver whenever possible.
Jeremy Gilbertson, RCDD
Jeremy joined EDI in 2011 and serves as the Managing Principal of the Data Center Practice. Jeremy is responsible for overall strategic direction, management, and delivery for the data center practice at EDI. Jeremy is a Registered Communications Distributed Designer (RCDD) certified by BICSI and received his Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Kennesaw State University.
Jeremy’s experience involves helping enterprise, third-party provider, healthcare, and higher education clients understand the current state of their data center and develop phased strategies to address business requirements, risk, and budget. Jeremy understands that the success of any data center projects begins with a defined vision and a streamlined communications plan that brings IT, Facilities, and Real Estate together.
In Jeremy’s free time, he is an avid cross fit enthusiast and music producer and enjoys spending time with his wife Traci and their four kids.
Vice President – Sales & Marketing
Carl joined EDI in 2012 and is now the Vice President of Sales & Marketing for the company. Carl is responsible for strategic business development planning and the overall sales growth of the company. He also manages the marketing department. He has 25 years of sales experience working in the IT sector as wells as in the Architectural/Engineering industry. Carl’s sales philosophy is to identify major client “pain points” and offer valuable services that will provide real solutions.
Carl earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, TN. His major was Business Marketing. He also played 2 years of college baseball.
He is a sports enthusiast and loves baseball and college football. He spent 10 years coaching his son in travel baseball. Carl and his wife often start the day together at the gym attending a “boot camp” class or weight training. He is very involved at his church and enjoys spending his free time with his wife and 2 kids.
