Job Title: Low Voltage Technology Consultant

We seek to hire an entry-level engineering and consulting position. The primary objective is to assist senior consultants, project managers, and principals with the design of technology infrastructure systems for hospitals, data centers, higher education, and corporate projects. This includes developing design documents in both REVIT and AutoCad (primarily REVIT), attending project meetings, supporting engineers and consultants with required tasks, and specification development. The technology systems include cabling systems, local area networks, wireless systems, voice communications, nurse call, overhead paging, security, video surveillance, and audio-visual systems. .

Details of Essential Components/Tasks

AutoCAD/Design and Revit Modeling (60%)

  • Clean-up backgrounds, set-up drawings, implement mark-ups and plot drawings
  • Print and bind final drawings; coordinate shipment of products
  • Develop building REVIT models, create floor plans, flowcharts, project schedules, detailed diagrams, etc. and help produce high quality client deliverables
  • Help create functional designs that meet specifications and clients’ needs

Design Consulting (30%)

  • Apply engineering design principles and deliver practical results using fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures. Deliver desired results to clients while maintaining EDI profitability.
  • Design efficient and cost effective audio-visual, communications and security systems; and the structured cabling associated with these systems; prepare specifications and assist in developing budgets.
  • Contribute to client satisfaction by understanding their needs (contract requirements) and designing projects that deliver desired results.
  • Assist engineers and consultants with product research and developing standards to support project deliverables. 

Work in Field (5%)

  • Assist and conduct construction walk-throughs and formulate site observation reports. 
  • Assist others in conducting surveys and assessments such as wireless LAN surveys, existing condition assessments, etc.

Professional Development (5%)

  • Attend seminars, research reference materials, and stay abreast of emerging products and technology to better service our clients and promote EDI
  • Seek professional registration and other certification and accreditation as appropriate and approved by your coach

Knowledge 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Certified EIT or scheduled to take FE exam at first available date
  • Other certificates in technical disciplines are advantageous

Job Title: Senior Low Voltage Technology Consultant

EDI seeks a mid-level consulting engineer to join our project delivery teams in either our Atlanta or Denver offices. The location can be determined based upon the candidate’s interests. EDI provides Technology Systems services to a broad market customer base. Our markets include healthcare, data centers, higher education, corporate, and government projects.

The primary job responsibility objective is to assist project managers and principals with the consulting, design and construction management of data/voice/video cabling system infrastructures, physical security systems, audio-visual systems, and relocation services projects.  This includes writing specifications and developing budgets for individual projects. The secondary role is perform project design solutions and documentation using Revit and AutoCAD. 

Details of Essential Components/Tasks

Design Consulting

  • Contribute to client satisfaction by understanding the project needs and requirements and develop design solutions that deliver desired results within budget.
  • Design efficient and cost effective audio-visual, communications and security systems; and the data/voice/video structured cabling associated with these systems; prepare specifications and develop accurate budgets.
  • Attend project meetings and work in a collaborative, value-based environment with project teams including clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Command a general knowledge of system materials, components, and products.
  • Perform research and value analysis to formulate the desired requirements and results.

Revit and AutoCAD/Design

  • Design projects using Revit and AutoCAD to deliver construction and installation drawings and models.
  • Apply engineering principles to designs and deliver practical methods using fundamental concepts, practices and procedures. 
  • Coordinate and collaborate with project team the Revit model working structure and final model outcome.
  • Develop Revit families and data base manipulation.
  • Clean-up backgrounds, set-up drawings, and implement mark-ups. 

Construction and Installation Observations

  • Conduct construction walk-throughs to formulate site observation reports, and punch lists. 
  • Assist the project team to develop strategies, create flowcharts, track details and produce AutoCAD drawings that ensure efficiency in the planning and execution of integration, move-in activation and relocation management services.

Professional Development

  • Attend seminars, research reference materials, and stay abreast of emerging products and technology to better service our clients and promote EDI
  • Continue to enhance your professional development by achieving set goals

Knowledge 

  • 2 to 5 years of similar job description experience with a consulting engineering firm, contractor or systems integrator.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Computer Science
  • Desire to seek professional engineering registration. An EIT certificate is a plus. 
  • RCDD Certification
  • Revit and AutoCAD experience
  • Construction, installation, and integration experience is advantageous
  • WLAN design modeling and WLAN post installation testing is advantageous
  • Other certificates in technical disciplines are advantageous
