Government Case Studies and Projects 356,000 Square Feet Coweta County’s growing population necessitated expanding it’s court facilities. EDI was brought on to plan, design, program, oversee procurement, and observe construction of the technology for the new 120,000 SF Superior, State, Magistrate, and Probate Courts building and to plan, design, and program the 20,000 SF Juvenile Courts building to be constructed later. Systems addressed include:
EDI provided voice and data, audio-visual, acoustic, and security technology consulting and design services for this new 111,000 square foot five-courtroom courthouse and adjacent 700-space parking deck. The audio-visual systems include: sophisticated evidence presentation systems, speech reinforcement systems, assistive listening systems, and court reporting systems. The acoustical consulting addressed: analysis and remediation of any acoustical impediments to the proper use of the courts and other rooms. The security systems include: scanning and metal detection, duress monitoring, security intercom, intrusion detection, CCTV, panic alert, access control for the entire facility and the parking deck.
The court facility is approximately 170,000 square feet and will support Paulding County’s Superior, Magistrate, Probate and Juvenile Courts organizations as well as voter registration services. A separate administration building is 70,000 square feet supports county administrative services and the county commission. The services described herein apply to both of these facilities EDI designed the following systems for the new courthouse:

The City of College Park built a new 60,000 square foot public safety building to house the city’s fire department, police department, and court related facilities. EDI designed, programmed, created construction documents, bid assistance, and observed construction for the building’s physical security; data, voice and video cabling; audio-visual, presentation, and paging systems; and provided acoustical modeling and consulting. EDI also provided the preliminary design, space planning, and layout for the data center housing the 911 call center and the 911 operators’ area.
EDI served as lead technology consultant for the Library system’s $115 million dollar building campaign. Our services included telecommunications and network consulting, videoconferencing and audio-visual design, data/voice/video cabling design, and physical security system design. The new 288,000 square foot downtown library in the Greek Revival style serves as the technology hub for the 14 existing and 5 newly constructed branch libraries. High-speed networking and public internet access, multipoint WAN and public-switched videoconferencing, and centrally-monitored CCTV and access control are some of the benefits the library now enjoys.
EDI was contracted to provide the data and voice programming and design for largest public building in the County. The facility houses 330 employees in 215,000 square feet of judicial, administrative and support space. EDI developed, documented and managed the communication and information systems, including broadband RF video distribution system design.
EDI designed the audio-visual, security, voice and data systems for a new 135,000 square foot county justice and administration building. We also designed and developed the specifications for the county's new PBX system.
EDI has been selected as an approved design consultant for audio-visual and telecommunications systems for the U.S. Courts System by the Administrative Office of the United States Courts.
EDI provided courtroom audio system design and consulting for the new Juvenile and Recorder’s Court Building in Gwinnett County. The four-story building will serve these two court systems for five years and then be converted into office space.
The project goals were to reconfigure and modernize the security systems and control room of the existing Clarke County Sheriff’s office. The county wanted a plan that would handle current and future security equipment needs (10 year growth) and provide improved efficiency for the control room space. EDI provided master planning and budgeting for this modernization effort that included a new control room space plan and new state of the art integrated access control, alarm monitoring and video surveillance systems. New systems were planned to support card access, alarm monitoring, PC based video viewing and control, and video badging (photo identification) including integration with the sex offender database.
DeKalb County’s new 104,200 square foot senior center features a therapeutic pool, commercial kitchen, activity room, dining room for 250, computer room and offices. EDI designed, administered the bidding process, and observed construction of the security, audio-visual, and communication systems for this upscale facility.
DeKalb Facilities chose EDI to survey the DeKalb Animal Shelter for noise levels during visiting hours and make recommendations based on EDI’s findings. EDI found the noise levels to exceed comfortable levels and offered three alternative solutions. DeKalb chose to implement acoustical treatments for the surfaces and asked EDI to design, assist with procurement and observe construction of these additions to the facility.
When the GBI decided to install additional CCTV security cameras and a digital recording system at their Atlanta headquarters They brought EDI on to assist with the design, bid and construction administration of the new system. EDI oversaw the addition of 36 cameras for indoor and outdoor video surveillance of the three building campus. EDI also designed the infrastructure for panic buttons located in the building lobbies and the parking decks. |
