Donald E. Kinser

Chairman, President, & CEO
Don founded what is now EDI, Ltd. in 1986 at the age of 27 and has led EDI’s transformation from a mechanical consulting engineering firm into one of the nation’s leading data/voice, security, audio-visual, and network technology consulting and engineering firms. Don earned a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology in 1983 and an MBA from Georgia State University in 1993. He is a registered Professional Engineer and currently maintains Professional Engineering status in six states and a NCEES National Council Record.
He served as President for The American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC) of Georgia 1999-2000, and as National Director for Georgia in 2000-2003. He was Georgia’s “Engineer of the Year” in 2001. Don has served ASHE as a member of several national committees including: Emerging Trends Committee in 2005, NFPA 99 Task Force in 2006, and Technologies/Clinical Engineering Committee in 2008 and 2009. Don has served on the Board of Directors for the Georgia Chapter of Healthcare Information Services Society (HIMSS) since 2007 and as Chapter President for 2009-2010. Don was one of three primary authors for the new communications section of the 2010 FGI Guidelines for Healthcare Facilities. He is a frequent guest lecturer in the Health System program at Georgia Tech’s College of Industrial Engineering.
Don’s passion is Healthcare IT and the realization of better medical outcomes and improved healthcare delivery through IT adoption. Don works with healthcare clients to help them articulate and realize their technology vision and strategy.
Don is an avid outdoorsman, whitewater canoeist and kayaker, and mountaineer. He is an active volunteer for American Whitewater and the Boy Scouts of America. He has served on American Whitewater’s Board of Directors since 2003. Don is married to Nanci, and they have three adult children.
Jim P. Harrison
Sr. Vice President
Jim joined EDI in 1991 and serves as a Managing Principal for the Eastern Region office of EDI. His 30 years of experience include successful delivery of over 1,000 information technology system and data center design and construction projects.
Jim is BICSI Certified Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD.) Jim helps clients understand their options and works with them to develop effective IS and communication systems. His extensive knowledge of technologies processes and procedures, combined with his knowledge of construction methods, means new systems and projects are put in place and brought on-line trouble free and on time.
Outside of the office, Jim enjoys hiking, camping, and enjoying the great outdoors with his kids. He and his wife, Pam, have four adult children.
Managing Principal - Western Region
Mark joined EDI in 2012 and serves as the Managing Principal for the Western Region office of EDI. He has over 25 years of experience in telecommunications, audio-visual, security, and broadband systems design and installation.
Mark earned a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering from California State Polytechnic University with a concentration in telecommunications and fiber optic technology. He is a registered Engineer-in-Training and an InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist (CTS).
Jan joined EDI in 1992 as a co-op student and currently serves as a Vice President and Principal. In this role, Jan leads a team of project managers and provides executive oversight to their projects. His primary responsibility is to mentor, lead, advise, and schedule resources for the team. Jan has served a project manager on over 120 projects, the largest had a technology systems value of over $22 Million.
Jan graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Electrical Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Georgia. He is also a member of AFCOM (The Association for Data Center Management Professionals) and HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society.)
PE, RCDD, CTS, LEED AP
Originally hired as a co-op student, Paul returned to EDI in 2011 and serves as project Director. With over 20 years of experience, Paul has provided communication networking design and construction administration for numerous healthcare, military, municipal, academic, and commercial projects.
Paul graduated from the Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering and is a registered Professional Engineer in multiple states. He is a BICSI Certified Registered Communications Distribution Designer (RCDD,) InfoComm Certified Technology Specialist (CTS,) and LEED Accredited Professional (LEED AP) by the US Green Building Council.
When Paul is not traveling to project sites across the country, Paul works out of a home office in Pensacola, Florida. He enjoys just about anything to do with water; fishing, boating, scuba diving, and standup paddle boarding. When not In the water, he enjoys watching his 11 year old daughter surf.
Cynthia L. Cates
VP of Finance and Administration
Cynthia (Cindy) joined EDI in 2008 as VP of Finance and Administration and serves as Secretary & Treasurer. Cindy, a licensed CPA and member of the Georgia Society of CPAs, graduated from Oglethorpe University in Atlanta with a BBA in Accounting and is currently finishing her Masters of International Business at Georgia State University.
During her career, Cindy has directed or performed all aspects of finance and accounting and has been instrumental in performing compliance, operational, and internal financial audits, writing and revising audit programs, and conducting internal fraud investigations.
Cindy spearheaded the conversion of all EDI accounting, project management, and marketing/sales information into Deltek Vision, a fully integrated project based enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution. A daunting and ongoing effort on Cynthia’s part, Vision now allows EDI to facilitate better decision-making by delivering mission critical information at the click of a mouse.
In her free time, Cindy enjoys all things science fiction and fantasy, adventure movies, music, and a good glass of wine.
