All Children’s Hospital

All Children’s Hospital planned a major campus restructuring in 2004 and hired EDI for technology planning and design. Beginning with Technology Master Planning, EDI’s expertise allowed All Children’s to reach their goals of intelligent integration, flexibility, sustainability, and future growth capacity. As experienced IT planners, EDI was able to provide input and guidance on important infrastructure decisions, state-of the art systems feature comparisons, industry trends, and probably costs.

Data Center

EDI was hired by All Children’s Hospital to assist with long-term data center planning. We performed a study that included a data center assessment, development of IT growth models, and a market evaluation with TCO analysis. The objective of this study was to help All Children’s determine if they should build a new data center, remediate the existing data center, move to a colocation facility, etc.

Campus Fiber Additions

EDI designed a redundant campus fiber network providing a second fiber pathway from the new hospital distribution network so that a single switch or pathway failure would not incapacitate any building.

Campus Security System Replacement

EDI designed new security systems (access control, closed circuit TV, duress, and intrusion detection) with a phased replacement of existing building head-end components and software so that the entire system now operates as one. The system cost was greatly reduced by purchasing equipment for the entire campus at one time.

Project Team

EDI provided design and construction services for the new 225 bed Replacement Hospital, Medical Office Building, Parking Deck, and the Central Energy Plant designed to keep the hospital fully functional for up to three weeks in case of power loss.
