Medical College of Georgia Cancer Center
The Medical College of Georgia Cancer Center provides a modern research environment specifically designed to facilitate and inspire cancer research. The 167,000 square foot facility houses 35 or more new research faculty and approximately 175 associated personnel.
By incorporating research faculty with similar interests into a contiguous space, the Cancer Center creates a dynamic environment to stimulate synergy in terms of both scientific creativity and extramural funding for cancer-related research programs.
EDI provided programming and infrastructure construction documents for all audio-visual systems in the building, as well as consulting, design, construction documents, procurement assistance, and construction observation for the Director’s Suite video-conferencing system. EDI’s deliverables included the system program, an opinion of probable cost, and general architectural and MEP guidelines for the proper incorporation of audio-visual systems for that space incorporating space planning recommendations, cooling requirements, power loads, isolated grounding requirements, and mechanical system noise control guidelines.
EDI created the RFP for the systems, presented a comparative evaluation to the owner, answered vendors’ questions throughout the process, and observed and checked construction to verify that it met the rigors of our specifications.
In addition, EDI also provided an acoustical study for the Cancer Center’s auditorium by generating a 3D computer model of the auditorium space.
