EDI designed video-conferencing systems to help eliminate the thousands of miles of distance for instructors and students, allowing them to see and hear each other in real-time while exchanging information using a variety of tools, including electronic white boards and high-resolution computer graphics. EDI also developed a flexible network and cabling standard that could be implemented throughout the campus. Virtual networks were created for specialty systems such as audio-visual, enabling appropriate staff to monitor and control system components over the network.
